The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction

The article that was handed out in class titled The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter Benjamin was very interesting to me during the first couple of pages. I found it to be interesting because the main focus of these pages were about the term authenticity. The word authenticity means the quality of being genius, after further reading of the packet I realized something that I thought I thought was ironic was that it doesn’t matter the time period it may be or the problems that are going on around the people they will always and truly be satisfied with wanting the original. The next interesting focus for me was also how people can view or purchase a replica but it will never hold the same value to the “authentic” piece no matter how well it’s re-created with all of the original details.
