"What is and what may be"

The pictures that can be viewed from above tell the story of Anansa Carthen. The story that these pictures actually tell is a true story about my life which all started September 2, 1989 in Brooklyn New York but Bed-Stuy to be exact. The picture of the houses was used t show my neighborhood which was listed above and also the type of home I live in. The next picture that is significant o my life is the picture of the little girl looking into the mirror and viewing an older woman of essence and class which represents myself as a proud member of my beloved sorority; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. The next picture that represents the truth in my story is the relationship that i have with my mother who I consider to be my best friend, as seen in the picture the mother and daughter have a relationship that can't be broken because of the closeness they have for one other which I share with my mother which is a bond of love that can and never will be broken. The picture of the football team has much relevance to me because this reminds me of when I use to go along with my mother to my brother high school football games that I was his biggest fan no matter if they won or lost because of the effort he put forth when he played. The last picture of actor Omar Epps is true to me because he is one of my favorite all- time actors that I respect for his work as well as being one of the most handsome actors alive.

The picture of the houses are homes that have been passed down in my family for the past fifty years since my family came to New York City from North Carolina. The picture of the little girl who is viewing her reflections in the mirror represents my mother and the footsteps that I want to follow that have been implemented in my up bringing of a women who is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is the most classy women known to earth. The picture of the actor Omar Epps is a identical photo as to one of the greatest man in y life which is my father and it represents what he looks like and the picture of the football team is a picture of my boyfriend and the team that he plays for. And as the last picture of the mother and child is a picture of the relationship that I would love to gain with my mother because all we do is fight with each other.

"Persuaders"

In television there are many target groups that are viewing commercials that are aimed to create a sense of "need" by the viewer who is in front of the television during that time period. For insistence there are certain times of the day that certain commercials are advertised such as during the time slight usually of early morning from 7am- 10am the target is young children who are looked to be preparing for school, daycare as well as the babysitter. These children are the target at this time because many advertiser realize that most parents are trying to prepare their children and in order to conduct some source of order without any distractions towards the child they know the parent will turn he television on so the child can focus as the parent may try to put on the child's sock, shoe, pant, shirt or even while trying to get them to complete their breakfast. The commercials that are shown during this time period usually are cereals, yogurts, toys, and games.
In reference to my explanation for this target group pertains to the film that was shown in class, this film helped me gain a better understanding as to why so many different target groups are targeted differently when it comes to television because there is a set goal that is set to be accomplished by these advertising company's. As well as this film also explained that these ideas are pitched through a group that are usually the best of the best cooperates that will gain these company's the best profits.

Response to "City Lights" by Elizabeth Ewen

In today's society women are now looked at to have some of the most leading roles in the world. Some of these roles that women posses have great influences as well as bad ones which are portrayed to the public as well as the younger generation of females. The roles that women are portraying in the movies now are becoming more and more sexual to me. I think the roles are becoming more and more sexual to me because lately since I have actually been goining to the movies it seems as if these actresses are long haired, pretty faced with exotic features, and some form of seductive looks along with bodies. These actresses also have flawless skin which I believe is from the makeup. The most recent film that I can recall watching was"Brown Sugar" in this film the leading actress played by Sanaa Lathan, in this film I noticed that much of the clothing she wore was fitted to her body as well as reveling especailly in the clevege area. As for the role of the female actress in the movies I feel as if her role has had an effect on the women in today's society because many women especallly the young females think it's "cute" to dress above their ages which isn't helpful to them at all because men choose to abuse them.

The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction

The article that was handed out in class titled The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction by Walter Benjamin was very interesting to me during the first couple of pages. I found it to be interesting because the main focus of these pages were about the term authenticity. The word authenticity means the quality of being genius, after further reading of the packet I realized something that I thought I thought was ironic was that it doesn’t matter the time period it may be or the problems that are going on around the people they will always and truly be satisfied with wanting the original. The next interesting focus for me was also how people can view or purchase a replica but it will never hold the same value to the “authentic” piece no matter how well it’s re-created with all of the original details.
