Musterberg Response

Throughout this reading I noticed a lot of things that reminded me of today's group of people that are trying to advance technology. The first topic I realized through this reading was the eagerness that today's generation has to advance technology was the same during these invention years. I believe the eagerness was the same because many worked day in and day out trying to find something that would make someone else invention a step better so that people could have a newer connection with the product. I think these inventors wanted these experiences to occur because it was known that they would inform the next person about the product and the experience they held with it and this would cause a chain reaction to have the next person go out and spend their funds on it so that they could have their own experiences.
The next issue that I got from this reading was that during the development of technology during this time period more time and effort was put into these inventions from what I believe is put into the new inventions of my generation. I feel this way because much of the crafts that were invented lasted and didn't wear down as fast and today's inventions much of them haven't be able to last to at least 15 years and still be in good condition. I think the inventions of today are being created to meet the demand of the people and for the money. The last issue I found that was the most interesting to me was the fact that the inventions had many stages so that it could be crafted to the best of it's abilities.m I think this should be implemented in today's inventions because it might create the drive that I feel is lost with today's technology.

Foucault Response

The reading of Foucault hit home because it touched the issue of surveillance. This was an issue for me because in my community surveillance is a form of protection that is needed tremendously. I feel it's needed because there are high crimes that occur often during all times of day such as robbings, shootings, and stabbings. It's even worse because the school are being affected because the young adults are focusing more on sneaking weapons into their school instead of completing their school work and passing all of their city/state exams. The crime rate that occurs has became higher to me, due to not having any form of surveillance in my neighborhood because people know that most people will mind their business because they are usually afraid of the repercussions that may occur if they share information or what they seen with police. I also feel that it creates a boost of a high for the person committing the crime because they know that no one is there to stop them from harming someone or something unless their is a officer around and sometimes that doesn't even matter.
The installment of surveillance cameras in my neighborhood would help in making the area safe. I feel the cameras will make it a bit safer because people will have second thoughts as their going to commit a crime and most likely won't commit if they know it will be easier to find them due to having pictures of their face. It will also change the corrupted mind set of the youth and actually make them realize that crime will not get them their own homes, cars, and the money to support their families; but that a education will. I hope that eventually there will be a change made in some form of surveillance will be implemented to make a change in the area completely.

"Net Neturality"

he defintion of net neutrality is a network design to model the arguements of broadband network providers to be completely seperated from what information is sent over their networks; which makes the agrument that no information should be prioritized over another because it will cause the issue of conflict. The conflict that can occur for the broadband newtorks could be that network providers can choose to discriminate and decide how fast data will be transmitted and at what quality which will cause these newtworks to seperated information sent over newtworks the concered parties that will be affected would be the competing broadband networks.
The furture of internet will defintinaly be affteced by net neutrality because it will cause many networks to fight for competiton and many wont play fair if they notice that their competiton is stealing their customers.

Am I Still Here - Anthony Doerr

In my understanding of the article assigned titled "Am I Still Here" by Anthony Doerr I can say after reading it twice I can agree with Doerr; I feel as if I'm in an agreement with him because I have actually experienced the feeling of being a slave to technology on many occasions. For example one moment that I experienced where I knew I was a slave to technology and knew it took me from the real world was at my family's last Christmas dinner. This particular night family came from all over and we gathered to enjoy each others company and give thanks that we could celebrate another year as an healthy family with relatives of all ages in attendance. I realized after while that I kept my phone on vibrate and close to my hip that night so I could receive every text message and phone call that came through but after a while I realized that my phone wouldn't be around for a lifetime and that the good times and laughs that I shared with my family would be with me to the day I died.
After coming to my senses I realized that the media that is being created and around me every hour of the day has caused a split personality in me. I feel that there is a split personality because of something so little as just bringing myself to sit and write a paper doesn't happen anymore for me. When writing a paper I must have some form of music on wither it be my i-pod, radio, or music television station I wont be able to focus without it, I also have to have my phone near me so that I can answer every text that I may hear my phone alert me on. As time is passing and technology is growing into bigger inventions I'm realizing that the world is beginning to be taking by storm the horrible affects of these invention and losing it's sight as an individual on earth.
